Xenon Alpha has been released
An initial alpha branch of Xenon has been released. This has a few applications but is certainly not fit for public use. Do not expect anything to work as it should, as many things are still being done to make it usable. An API is out, so if you program in a web language (compatible with LAMP, any of (X)HTML, CSS, Javascript. PHP or MySQL) then please help us out by sending us patches and new apps when you can! Alternatively we welcome new designs or images for the system. Please get the tarball here. (SVN/Git coming soon). Please send patches to xenon@dandart.co.uk
What is Xenon?
Xenon is a portable, browser-based desktop environment for portable computing such as netbooks or public workstations. Xenon comes equipped with a new kind of graphical interface designed with casual users in mind. Later in the project, Xenon will begin to employing measures for maximum usage from graphic designers to gamers without losing the core of the system, the casual users. An optional stripped down version of Linux boots into a full screen browser that contains a local website which lets you use Xenon with all features. The current perfect hardware for Xenon is ARM-based or netbook computers.
Xenon will, early on, be able to do anything a current netbook or Pocket PC user can such as browse the web, work with various types of documents, listen to music, and more. Xenon will boot in seconds and require less power than almost all conventional solutions benefiting everyone.
